Project: Sternguard Conversion

This is the first of my converted Sternguard. These are converted from the FW Red Scorpion veterans. He is armed with a powersword and combi-plasma. The green left shoulder pad denotes their assignment to the 4th company as they fight an ongoing campain in the Scalerax system located in the Eastern Fringe.

Let me know your thoughts

Project: Forgeworld Ultramarine Venerable Dreadnaught

Positives: The model is just cool and is definitely a must have for the UM player. Easy to paint the main body

Negatives: The banner was delivered with banner pole bent in the casting process so warm water didn't work. so I had to trim the banner pole off and reattach it. I will eventually swap the banner pole for a brass rod so this wasn't a big negative

Overall impression: good kit. easy to put together. the painting is pretty straight forward, except for the banner.

Coming Soon: Forgeworld

I was surprised Tuesday when I got home and my wife, Karen, said that I had recieved a package. Lo' and behold there was this beat up brown package from Forgeworld. This was the first order I have made with them and didn't expect to receive the stuff so soon. It has only been a little over two weeks and I was steeling myself for at least a month's wait. Enough of that.

Here was my list:

  • UM Venerable Dreadnaught (I am about finished with this one and will have it up soon) with plasma cannon and CCW
  • Red Scorpion Vet upgrade kit - I just love the MK IV Maximus armor and will convert these guys into my sternguard (along with my 'Nid Hunters)
  • Commander Culln Red scorpion Terminator
  • Red Scorpion Vanguard squad
  • Grey Knight MK IV Dread with psycannon and close combat weapon
  • Inquisitor Lok
  • Grey Knight Vehicle commander (for my GK Landraider)
  • Inquisition/ GK Brass kit
  • Tau Shas'o R' Myr
  • Tau XV-81 Battlesuit
  • Tau XV-89 Battlesuit

I hope to have reviews and pics of the finished models as I complete them so comeback soon for updates

Project: Ironclad Dreadnaught

This is my conversion of the Ironclad Dreadnaught built from the dread from the Black Reach Box. As you can see it is a very simple conversion. The Hurricane Bolter is from the Redeemer box, as I used the Firestorms instead of the bolters. The extra plating is from a Land Raider door and a Rhino/Razorback top hatch.
On the Hurricane bolter I used the crane cover from the Vindicator to add some detail to the hurricane bolter. The paint job isn't complete yet, but thought I would throw this out there for comment.
I still would like to convert a better seismic hammer arm, but for now the combat arm will count as that.
